PVC

PVC-U: economical standard material, for all applications

rigid, stiff, sensitive to mechanical shock at low temperatures, transparent / opaque, in all coulours, may be welded or glued

construction profiles, tubes, decoration profiles

PVC-P: for soft profiles and seals, for co-extruded profiles

soft, flexible, becomes brittle at low temperatures, transparente / opaque

sealing lips at PVC-U / PVC-P co-extruded profiles

PE

LD-PE: wax like surface, flexible, suitable for food contact

wax like surface, easy to scratch, flexible, tough, suitable for food contact

sewable profiles

HD-PE: harder and stiffer than LD-PE, may be sterilised at 121 °C

similar to PE-LD but more rigid and stiff, may be sterilised up to 121 °C

concrete shuttering

PP

low weight standard material, wide application field, suitable for food contact

rigid, resetting, non breakable, may be sterilised, non toxic, very good electrial insulator

electrical applications, bodies for technical brushes

PS

low cost, low weight standard material, also fully transparent

rigid, stiff, highly transparent, brittle, no smell, no taste,high vapour permeability, may be welded or glued

curtain rails, profiles for picture frames

ABS

low cost technical thermoplastic material, high impact resistance

rigid, tough, resistant to temperture changes, in opaque coulours, non toxic, keeps dimensions, higher mechanical strength than PS, modified types for outdoor applications, may be welded or glued, metal surface may be applied galvanically

air ducts, housings for elctrical devices, frames

PA

PA 6: very tough (also at low temperatures), rigid, high mechanical shock compensation

very tough (also at low temperature), rigid, high mechanical shock absorption, endurant to high temparutres, mechanical characteristics dependent on humidity content, non toxic, brittle when dry

engineering profiles

PA 66: especially rigid, tough and endurant to high temperatures

PA-type with highest rigidity, stiffness, abrasion resistance and temperature endurance

PBT

rigid, stiff, favourable sliding characteristics, heat endurant

PC

good mechanical characteristics, even at low temperatures, highly transparent

PMMA

highly transparent, suitable for outdoor applications, optical applications

POM

rigid, especially good gliding characteristics

highly rigid and stiff, tough at low temperatures, keeps dimensions also at high temperatures, also for frequently changing conditions, opaque colours, tension crack resistant

TPE

rubberlike but thermoplastically mouldable group of materials

EPDM and others, no migration of softening additives
